Rose Prairie - A Solar Powered Point Print E-mail

September 2009:  Rose Prairie now has PRiS internet access.  Thanks to a co-operating farmer and his field and the receipt of partial funding from the Provincial 'Connecting Citizens Program' , PRiS was able to raise a 50 foot mast and provide internet access to residents with line of sight to it.

To achieve access, we had to bouce a signal from Rose Prairie to North Pine to Northern Grande Hotel to our Fibre Head end.  This access point is the first solar-powered access point, with enough battery power to get through the dark days of December.

In addition to this access point, another repeater is currently being installed west of Rose Prairie to reach some residents that cannot see the RP access point.  Others will be added as the need is identified.

This is just a portion of our ongoing commitment to expand the reach of broadband into unserved rural areas.
